Spheres

There are many different spheres and some spheres branch off into other spheres. The geosphere is all rocks and solids, the biosphere is all life on earth, the hydrosphere is all water, cryosphere is all ice. Earth is a complex system composed of four primary, interconnected subsystems called “spheres” that work together to support life. The geosphere (or lithosphere) provides the solid foundation, including all rocks, minerals, and landforms from the crust to the core. Enveloping the planet is the atmosphere, a mixture of gases like nitrogen and oxygen that regulates temperature and protects us from radiation. The hydrosphere encompasses all Earth’s water, from vast oceans to frozen glaciers, covering over 70% of the surface. Finally, the biosphere contains all living organisms, existing within the other spheres to form a delicate, balanced global ecosystem.
